BROWER, JAMES E, age 83, of Canton, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016 at Aultman Hospital. He was born Feb. 26, 1933 in Carroll, Iowa to the late Jack and Gladys Brower. He is a 1955 Graduate of the University of Arizona where he played basketball, winning the Fred Enke Award as the team's most valuable player during his senior year. Upon graduation he served in the United States Army for two years.On Oct. 25, 1959, he married his loving wife of 56 years, Carol (nee Schafer), who survives him along with their three children, Susan Kanam (Mike), Patricia Dale and Jim Brower (Bonita). He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Hayden, Jack and Andrew Brower ’12; as well as his two brothers, Lowell (Sharon) and Bob (Barbara); and his sister-in-law, Murial. He is preceded in death by his brother, Byron; and son-in-law, Ben Dale. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, retired VP of sales for The Central Oil Asphalt Corp., and longtime member of The Congress Lake Club, but he enjoyed his family most.There is a celebration of his life at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 7707 North Market Ave. in North Canton Friday, Sept. 16. Calling hours are from 10- 11:30 a.m. followed immediately by a memorial service. Reception to follow.
